(Bismarck, ND) — A Bismarck police lieutenant is suspended for 30 days after being stopped on New Year’s Day. Cody Trom was stopped just before one a.m. January 1st for a suspected traffic violation. Court documents show he didn’t properly perform a field sobriety test and refused a breath test. He pled guilty Monday to DUI refusal and must spend a year on probation and pay 750-dollars in fines and court fees. Deputy Chief Randy Ziegler says the department takes legal and policy violations by officers very seriously. Trom has no other disciplinary violations on file.
