Williston Childcare Provider Found Not Guilty Of Child Abuse

(Williston, ND) — A Williston childcare provider has been acquitted of child abuse charges. Torrie Vader was accused of shaking a five-month old baby, causing permanent brain damage in July 2021. Prosecutors say Vader changed her story about the baby’s injuries several times during the investigation. The defense called a medical examiner who said the baby suffered from a preexisting condition and that Vader wasn’t directly responsible for the baby’s injuries. The jury returned a not guilty verdict yesterday after three hours of deliberation following a two-week trial.
