(Rapid City, SD) — A Monument Health urologist is marking a surgical milestone. Dr. Robert Santa-Cruz recently performed his 15-hundredth robot-assisted surgery. He has performed 500 of those since joining Monument Health in 2019. Santa-Cruz has been using the Da Vinci robotic surgery platform, which allows surgeons to make smaller incisions and reach spaces too small for human hands. He says the approach allows him to do more surgeries on an outpatient basis.
