(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is asking lawmakers to pass a bill that would allow South Dakota to recognize more out-of-state professional licenses. Noem announced yesterday that her office will be partnering with Senator Jim Stalzer to push the effort. The governor sees the move as a way to address the state’s labor shortage. South Dakota has a two-percent unemployment rate.
