(Minneapolis, MN) — Northrop auditorium at the University of Minnesota is temporarily closed after part of its roof collapsed. The collapse happened Wednesday evening in the southeast corner of the nearly century-old building. Engineers and health and safety workers began evaluating the structure yesterday as crews worked to clear the scene. Nearby Church Street and Northrop parking garages are also being inspected. The collapse came only days after 15 inches of snow fell on the Twin Cities.
