(Rapid City, SD) — There will be no fireworks show at Mount Rushmore this July 4th for the third year in a row. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem announced on Twitter that the National Parks Service again rejected her request for a permit. Noem filed a lawsuit in 2021 against the Department of the Interior alleging that its decision was “arbitrary,” but the judge ruled the federal government is within its rights to deny the fireworks. He wrote that “nobody has a right to shoot off fireworks on someone else’s land.”
