(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Sioux Falls City Council is considering a funding increase for a downtown construction project. The city’s director of public works says the Sixth Street Downtown Project is coming in at significantly over the engineer’s nearly 22-million dollar estimate. The main factor leading to the increase include limited bidders, project access, a limited staging area, a tight labor market, and construction cost inflation. The city’s director of financing is asking the council for extra money to cover the funding gap. The measure will have a first reading tonight.
