(Pierre, SD) — Two national groups are endorsing South Dakota’s proposed K through 12 social studies standards. The National Alliance of Scholars and the Civics Alliance recently announced their support of the proposal. The NAS is a nonprofit conservative advocacy organization with an interest in education. The Civics Alliance is a coalition of organizations aiming to preserve and improve civics education. South Dakota Secretary of Education Joseph Graves says the proposed standards set “clear expectations” for students, teachers, and parents for “learning and responsible citizenship.”
