(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota lawmakers are considering two separate bills that would ban transgender girls and women from participating in K through 12 and college female sports. Hearings on the bills took place yesterday. Supporters say the issue is about fairness in girls and women’s athletics. Opponents say the legislation is discriminatory and harmful toward transgender people and would keep major sports tournaments out of the state. A similar 2021 bill was vetoed by Governor Burgum.
