Minnesota AG Calls For Delay In Sanford-Fairview Merger

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is requesting that Sanford and Fairview slow down their planned mega-merger. He says a scheduled closing for the transaction on March 31 is coming too soon to address questions about the deal. One of the concerns of University of Minnesota officials is that Sanford Health and Fairview Health Services have not considered the impact of their proposed merger on the university’s academic medical center. Fairview owns the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, which is the school’s primary teaching hospital.
