(Sioux Falls, SD) — More students are enrolled in special education classes in South Dakota compared to other states. The Department of Education’s Linda Turner spoke during the joint committee on appropriations last week. She said 19-percent of the state’s students are enroll in special education. That’s compared to the national average of about 15-percent. The topic came up during conversations about increased funding for special education.
