(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota’s Senate Select Committee is recommending that Republican Senator Julie Frye-Mueller be censured, rather than expelled. The committee made the initial recommendation on a voice vote last night. The nine-member panel also recommended that her suspension be lifted immediately. They will meet again today to take an official roll-call vote to accept the report before the matter moves on to the full Senate. Frye-Mueller is accused of inappropriate behavior and harassment of a legislative staff member related to “private maternal” issues.
