(Pierre, SD) — Targeted job payment adjustments for South Dakota state employees are under consideration. The Joint Committee on Appropriations heard from the Bureau of Finance Management and the Bureau of Human Resources on the issue yesterday. The BHR says the 38-million dollar proposal would move many state government workers to a more competitive salary level. BHR representatives told the committee that future targeted raises wouldn’t be needed if the current issue is addressed. The targeted pay increases would impact nearly 300 jobs in more than a dozen different job categories.
