(Bismarck, ND) — State health officials are tracking a rise in sexually transmitted diseases throughout North Dakota. According to a report released last week, cases of chlamydia increased by 20-percent between 2017 and 2021. During the same period, syphilis rates went up by 25-percent and the gonorrhea case count rose by 78-percent. Meanwhile, data in the survey projects that half of sexually active North Dakotans will contract at least one sexually transmitted disease by age 25.
