SD House Committee Advances Mandatory DUI Sentences

(Pierre, SD) — A South Dakota House committee is advancing a bill that would require mandatory sentences for certain DUI convictions. The state House Judiciary committee moved the measure to the full House yesterday. The bill would prevent suspended sentences for those convicted of at least four DUIs within a certain period of time. Those issued mandatory sentences wouldn’t be able to get out early on parole.
