(Pierre, SD) — A trio of election-related South Dakota Senate bills have been defeated in committee. The Senate State Affairs committee sent the three bills to the 41st day, essentially killing the measures. Republican Senator Lee Schoenbeck says the “election integrity” bills brought forward by Republican Senator Julie Frye-Mueller amounted to harassment of local officials. The Senate President Pro Tempore says the bills would unfairly target voters with special situations.
