Senate To Consider Bill To Prevent Foreign Land Purchase

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Senate is set to consider a bill that would create a committee to review attempts by foreign entities to purchase agricultural property in the state. Governor Kristi Noem is backing the bill. Two Republican senators are proposing various changes to the bill. The Legislature’s calendar requires the Senate to act on the bill by Wednesday, which is the 27th day of the session. More time can be allowed if the majority of senators agree to suspend the crossover deadline.
