(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem says state lawmakers were wrong this week when they rejected a proposed repeal of the state’s grocery tax she had supported. Noem had made the grocery tax repeal a centerpiece of her reelection campaign. She says the repeal would have helped residents on different socioeconomic levels. But state lawmakers disagreed and said a grocery tax cut would have been too narrow an issue to tackle in a single tax cut.
