(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota lawmakers are saying they intend to work on an anti-China land ownership ban over the legislative interim. The Senate rejected a bill last week backed by Governor Kristi Noem aimed at barring China from buying agricultural land in South Dakota. Nearly all major ag groups opposed the bill. Senate Republican leader Casey Crabtree says a reimagined bill will likely be brought back for the 2024 session.
