(Helena, MT) — Governor Greg Gianforte is close to signing a key part of his tax proposal for Montana. The House voted along party lines to approve an income tax reduction bill during a second reading yesterday. The measure aims to lower the state income tax rate to just under six percent, which supporters believe will help everybody in the state. But, opponents think the bill won’t be helpful to those in the middle and lower classes. Lawmakers will vote on it one more time, and if it passes, will be sent to Gianforte’s desk.
