(Pierre, SD) — A bill that would temporarily lower the overall South Dakota sales tax is headed to the state Senate floor for debate. The bill passed out of a Senate committee yesterday with an amendment that adds a two-year sunset clause on the tax cut. An amendment was also attached that would remove the 2016 Partridge Amendment, which would only reduce overall sales tax when and if the state starts collecting sales tax on online retail sales.
