(Sioux Falls, SD) — A world champion sailor is trying out the ski scene in South Dakota. Great Bear Ski Valley is helping Australian Kylie Forth, who is blind, take on the slopes with adaptive skiing. She lost her eyesight and a leg to cancer when she was little, but defied the odds as part of the world-champion Australian Blind Match sailing crew in 2014. Adaptive Ski Instructor Curt Howman worked with Forth by using a seated frame attached to one ski. Kylie is now going to Terry Peak where she’ll compete in Ski for Light next week.
