Woman Avoids Jail Time In Stabbing, Child Neglect Case

(Glen Ullin, ND) — A Glen Ullin woman charged in a stabbing and child neglect case has avoided jail time. Stephanie Johnson was arrested last year after she stabbed a house guest in the hand. When deputies went to Johnson’s home, they found a 3-year-old child who was described as nonverbal, was wearing only a diaper, and was within reach of open bottles of vodka. Johnson and her husband were found passed out drunk in a bed. She pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and child neglect and was sentenced to one-and-a-half years of probation.
