FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota competed at the NDSU Spring Classic on Friday and finished with six event wins and seven improvements to the UND top-10 list.
Kenna Curry led North Dakota in field events and won the discus crown with a throw of 158-3 (48.25m).
On the track, the 4×100-meter relay team of Justina Esangbedo, Nadia Evans, Emily Ash and Jerzie Finstad helped UND get off to a strong start and was victorious with a time of 49.73.
Malene Kollberg won the 100-meter hurdles and moved up to No. 2 in UND history with a personal-best time of 13.88.
Olivia Krafty, competing in her first outdoor 5,000 meters as a Fighting Hawk, earned the title in 19:11.24.
Micah Bruggeman won the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.96.
Towards the end of the meet, the 4×400-meter squad of Tanner Schiller, Braxton Middaugh, Micah Bruggeman and P.K. Moore captured the crown with a time of 3:27.31.
North Dakota will split up for four meets next week, taking part in the Twilight Open (April 10), Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (April 11), Bryan Clay Invitational (April 11-13) and Beach Invitational (April 12-13).
Post-Meet Notes
* North Dakota went up against North Dakota State and South Dakota State at the NDSU Spring Classic on Friday and captured six event titles at the meet.
* The Fighting Hawks also recorded seven improvements to the UND top-10 list in Fargo.
* Malene Kollberg was victorious in the 100-meter hurdles and moved up to No. 2 in UND history with a personal-best time of 13.88. Later in the meet, she was third in the long jump with a PR leap of 19-2 1/2 (5.85m), which moved her up to No. 3 on the UND top-10 list in that event.
* Claire Leach was the runner-up in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 38-7 (11.76m), good for No. 4 on the UND top-10 list.
* Alimath Salou recorded the No. 8 time in UND history in the 100 meters with a PR time of 12.20 and took third.
* James Weninger placed third with a PR clearance of 6-4 1/4 (1.94m) in the high jump, which moved him into a tie for No. 6 in school history in the event.
* In the 100 meters, Caleb Severson posted the No. 2 time in program history with a time of 10.57, while Maxwell Roller tied the No. 6 time in school history with a time of 10.73.
