Day One Of SF Gymnastics Lawsuit Appeal Hearing

(St. Paul, MN) — Day one of the Sioux Falls gymnastics lawsuit appeal hearing wrapped up yesterday. Arguments were heard from both sides in St. Paul, Minnesota. It comes after a ruling last October from a federal judge for the school district to temporarily continue gymnastics as the lawsuit makes its way through court. The question at the center of the appeal is if that decision was justified. Sioux Falls School District representatives insist there was a major error made by the District Court because SFSD expanded programs by adding girls softball and wrestling before cutting gymnastics. Sioux Falls parents’ representatives say that although participation is increasing in girls’ sports, there continues to be a gap between boys and girls participation opportunities. A decision in the case could take months.
