(Pierre, SD) — Food insecurity continues to be a growing problem for South Dakotans. The number of people struggling to afford food is rising. Organizations like Feeding South Dakota and the Faith Temple Food Giveaway are making it known they are needing food donations more than ever. The Feeding South Dakota development director says, in South Dakota, “food insecurity rates in individuals has increased by over 40 percent, and when we look at children specifically, that increase has been upwards of 55 percent.” The Faith Temple Food Giveaway is happening every Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds for those in need.
