The “Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus” recognition means the USD Medical Center is saving more lives and reducing disability for those who suffered a stroke by using the latest research and evidence-based guidelines. Strokes happen when a blood vessel carrying oxygen to the brain is blocked by a clot or bursts and are the fifth leading cause of death and disability in the U.S.
