(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Supreme Court says a woman can sue the state patrol for injuries she received from an unprovoked attack by a police dog. The court ruled yesterday that the state patrol does not have immunity from lawsuits under Minnesota’s dog bite statute. The Owatonna woman who filed the suit says she was badly hurt when the dog attacked her at a car dealership in 2019. She claims the trooper handling the dog failed to properly control it and knew that the K-9 was dangerous. She’s asking for at least 50-thousand dollars in damages.
