(Mitchell, SD) — Davison County is celebrating a milestone moment in law enforcement. The county now has its first woman deputy in more than 20 years. Her name is Samantha Stiles, serving as Court Services Deputy in the Davison County Courtroom. Stiles hopes to inspire other girls to climb the ladder in law enforcement and make a difference in their communities. Davison County Sheriff Steve Harr says there wasn’t a reason there hadn’t been a female deputy for that long, chalking it up to a low turnover rate and sometimes going years between hiring different deputies.
