(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol will be stepping up sobriety checkpoints this month. They will be conducted in 14 counties over the span of August. At least 15-thousand vehicles were involved in South Dakota checkpoints during 2022 and 2023. Officials say by conducting them is a good way to discourage people from driving impaired.
