(Meade County, SD) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says it was a California woman who died in a July 18th crash near Piedmont. According to a news release, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was traveling on Interstate 90 when a deer entered the roadway. The deer missed one vehicle, jumped, and went through the windshield of the Highlander. The person in the front passenger seat steered the vehicle off the roadway, where it came to rest in a ditch. The names of the people involved have not been released pending notification of family members.
