Twins Sneak Past Rangers In Ninth; Buxton Lands On IL

(Arlington, TX) — The Minnesota Twins scored a run in the top of the ninth to beat the Texas Rangers 3-2 at Globe Life Field. The game was tied at two before Carlos Santana put Minnesota on top for good with a sacrifice fly. Willi Castro homered in the victory, while Jorge Alcala picked up his third win in relief.
The Twins have won three of four and remain in second place in the AL Central at 68-and-53. Simeon Woods Richardson starts for Minnesota against Texas tonight.
Meanwhile, an injury-prone Minnesota Twins star is hurt again. The team placed outfielder Byron Buxton on the 10-day injured list with right hip inflammation. The IL stint is retroactive to Tuesday so Buxton could be back on August 23rd. In 90 games this season, the 30-year-old is batting .275 with 16 home runs and 49 RBI. In 10 seasons in MLB, Buxton has played over 100 games just once in his career due to numerous injuries.
