(Pierre, SD) — It’s going to cost medical-marijuana businesses a lot more for their annual licensing fee. The state legislature’s Rules Review Committee has voted to nearly double the fee to nine-thousand dollars. The vote was 4-to-1 in favor of the change with the lone “no” vote coming from Democratic Senator Red Dawn Foster. State medical-marijuana program administrator Emily Kerr says the increase was needed to cover administrative costs.
