(Sturgis, SD) — A burn ban in Meade County remains in effect at least through the weekend. A post on the Meade County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page says there have been 23 lightning fires in the Great Plains Area. The post referred to recent rain as “greatly appreciated,” but there’s still a high risk of fires. The weekend weather forecast isn’t helping conditions, with weekend highs ranging from the mid-80s to the mid-90s and winds between ten and 17 miles per hour. The next chance for any rain is on Monday with a 46-percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.
