(Rapid City, SD) — The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office is warning citizens about a scam threatening to seize property for unpaid taxes. The Sheriff’s Office posted a copy of a fake letter on social media that claims to be from The State Of South Dakota and the Pennington County Tax Processing Unit. The letter says to call an 800 number by August 27th, which is tomorrow. Anyone who receives such a letter or anything that appears to be a scam should contact law enforcement or other local agencies.
