One Killed, One Seriously Injured In Single-Vehicle Crash

(Fort Thompson, SD) — The driver is dead and a passenger is seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Buffalo County. The South Dakota Department of Public Safety says neither individual was wearing a seat belt when the SUV they were in went off the road and crashed into a ditch. The vehicle was traveling westbound on state Highway 34 about three miles east of Fort Thompson. No identities were released, but officials said the driver was a 38-year-old male and the passenger a 23-year-old male. The passenger’s injuries are described as life-threatening.
