SD Abortion Law Video

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Health wants to give more clarity on South Dakota’s current abortion law. In a new video on the department’s YouTube page, State Health Secretary Melissa Magstadt goes over situations when physicians in the state can legally perform an abortion in order to save the life of the pregnant female. Governor Noem does appear at the end, saying, “In South Dakota we will support moms and babies both before birth and after.” Abortion has been banned in the state since states were given the power to decide in 2022. But a proposed amendment that would put the right to an abortion in the South Dakota Constitution is in the hands of voters this November.
