(Rapid City, SD) — The judge in the Mitchell baseball players sexual assault case is commending the victim and his family. Before handing down sentence, the judge praised the victim and family for coming forward and said they “shouldn’t be shamed” by the Mitchell community. The judge added that his sentence was following the victim’s request that they don’t serve prison time and that they aren’t registered as sex offenders. The judge did ask the six defendants to write a letter of apology to the victim and his family.
