(Brookings, SD) — Target is coming to Brookings. It will now be the popular chain’s fifth store in South Dakota. In a news release yesterday, the city says the Target will be joined by Aldi at the Brookings Marketplace shopping center. Up to two smaller stores are expected to fill the center as well. Construction on the Marketplace is planned to start in the spring and continue into 2026. Target has been the top retailer requested by respondents to a Brookings Economic Development Corporation survey since 2013.
