(Bismarck, ND) — A Senate bill has passed that would allow equal-value land and mineral exchanges between North Dakota and the state’s tribes. The bill would authorize North Dakota to relinquish state-owned lands on tribal reservations to the Department of Interior, in exchange for federal lands within the state of equal value. Senator John Hoeven called the bill a “win-win” for both the state and the tribes.
