(Rapid City, SD) — Firefighters across the state are taking a new mindset into the New Year after this past weekend’s Rushmore Fire Conference. The session in Rapid City, formerly known as the Mid-Winter Muster, has been offering training for South Dakota firefighters since the mid-80s. In the past, the conference has focused on wildland fires, but this year, organizers decided to take a different approach. The goal this year was to sharpen life-saving skills with all-hazard classes and allow first responders to be “comfortable with being uncomfortable.”
