Former Gov. Burgum Faces Questioning at Senate Confirmation Hearing

(Washington, DC — Doug Burgum says he will follow the law and the Constitution if he’s confirmed as Interior Secretary. That was the former North Dakota governor’s response when asked during his Senate confirmation hearing Thursday if he would stand up to the demands of President-elect Trump. Burgum also praised Trump’s “energy dominance” vision and said oil and gas production are the “foundation of American prosperity.” He told the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources that he cared about conservation, but placing limits on energy production posed a national security threat to the U.S.
