Two Dead In Ice Fishing Drowning

(Akaska, SD) — An ice fishing outing turns deadly after two people drowned on the Missouri River in Walworth County. South Dakota Walleye Classic President Craig Mehlhaff says it happened Wednesday night when a vehicle fell through the ice on the river near Akaska where the South Dakota Walleye Classic is hosted. Akaska is just south of Mobridge. The event posted on its Facebook page that the Kids Fishing Tourney has been postponed to an unknown date due to an accident. The Walworth County Sheriff said yesterday they are still investigating the incident, and no further details would be shared at this time. The Indian Creek Recreation Area shared a reminder for people to be extra cautious with the changing ice conditions.
