Medicaid Expansion Headed To Montana Senate

(Helena, MT) — A bill expanding Medicaid in Montana is heading to the Senate. House lawmakers approved the measure yesterday with bipartisan support, as several Republicans joined all Democrats by voting yes. The bill would remove June’s sunset date and keep the program running, which was first put into place in 2015. An average of nearly 300-thousand Montanans were enrolled in Medicaid in 2023, with more than a third of that number part of the extension. Supporters say it is a “critical source” for people in communities across the state.
