Man Dead After Standoff In Brandon

(Brandon, SD) — A man who barricaded himself inside of a Brandon home Wednesday is dead. Attorney General Marty Jackley and the South Dakota DCI confirmed the result of what took place that evening after an hours-long standoff. The U.S. Marshals Service and the Brandon Police Department were attempting to serve an arrest warrant around 2 p.m. when the person did not come out of a home on the 100 block of West Conifer Street. He was facing charges on felony drug offenses, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and three other charges. The man then started firing shots at officers. Local SWAT teams were activated, and after, rounds of chemical agents were used to try and lure that individual out, the house caught fire. He didn’t leave the home. No law enforcement or neighbors were hurt.
