(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota State Supreme Court has upheld its verdict in a fatal Minot fatal bar shooting in May 2023. A jury convicted Travis McDermott of manslaughter and reckless endangerment back in January of 2024. On appeal, McDermott claimed that he was denied due process after the jury saw him in shackles and handcuffs. The high court ruled that McDermott’s attorney had indicated that he was prepared to move forward with the trial despite possibly being seen by jurors.
