(Bismarck, ND) — A proposed bill could reshape high school sports eligibility, making it easier for student-athletes to transfer schools and play immediately. The legislation would eliminate the requirement for students to sit out at least a year after transferring, allowing them to follow a family move without penalty. The North Dakota High School Activities Association currently enforces a “lock, stock, and barrel” rule, which requires families to fully vacate their previous home before a student can enroll and participate in sports at a new school.
