Indigenous Activist Peltier To Be Released From Prison Today

(Belcourt, ND) — An Indigenous man who recently had his sentence commuted by President Biden is headed home today. Family members tell Vally News Live that Leonard Peltier will be returning home to Belcourt. Peltier was serving a life sentence for killing two FBI agents in 1975 during a standoff on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. One of Biden’s final acts in office was to commute the sentence of Peltier who will live out the rest of his days in home confinement.
