(Helena, MT) — Montana’s Department of Justice is officially looking into actions by a former Senate president. The DOJ says an investigation of potential criminal conduct has started with Senator Jason Ellsworth at the center of the probe. The investigation was referred to Attorney General Austin Knudsen last week at the request of lawmakers. Ellsworth is accused of agreeing to a deal with a contractor worth more than 170-thousand dollars, and splitting the contract to avoid competitive bidding on the contract.
