(Pierre, SD) — Pushback continues against the new men’s prison planned for Lincoln County. Some lawmakers argue that the project is a poor choice because of the rural location. Republican Senator Kevin Jensen has prepared two new bills that would at least delay the construction. One would put a moratorium on spending for the project until December. The other would create a task force to provide an independent review for correctional facility projects. Jenson represents District 16, which includes the prison site in Lincoln County. Local landowners have also fought back since the proposal was first introduced.
